New acquisitions
I was browsing the not-very-well-stocked game shelf at an electronics store yesterday, not hoping to find anything but simply killing time, and so was pleasantly surprised to chance upon two gems: The Rub Rabbits! for the Nintendo DS and the original Diablo for PC. Each set me back the equivalent of EUR 10, which I consider a great bargain.
Then this morning I picked up The Great Adventure Bundle 2010 at the Telltale Games store. It looks amazing and I hope more people get it because two of the games in it unlock after a certain number of purchases. Also, because 25% of the price goes to charity.
Check out details about my haul after the jump.
Diablo was my first serious gaming experience and one of a handful of games I’ve played through more than three times. Come to think of it, it is the only game, save Diablo II, I’ve played through more than ten times — with all classes and at all difficulty levels. It is without a doubt a fantastic title and I’m very happy to finally own a copy after having played through a few of my friends’. It is hard to get hold of this game other than finding some leftover or second-hand copies, because Blizzard‘s store doesn’t sell it. What I picked up is a brand-new but bookletless edition, which makes me a bit sad.
Also, I’d like to get the Diablo: Hellfire expansion by Sierra, but that can be even harder to find.
The Rub Rabbits! is a collection of minigames revolving around some sort of dating sim. I wasn’t sure what to expect from it (and I still am not), but it’s been on my to-buy list for quite some time after reading positive reviews praising the game as innovative and fun. We’ll see.
The Great Adventure Bundle 2010 is a package of point-and-click adventure games by some of the masters of point-and-click adventure. The price of USD 19.95 is incredibly good value, considering what’s inside the bundle.
For starters, there’s the gorgeous but (so far) prohibitively expensive The Whispered World. Then, there’s Jack Keane, of which I haven’t heard before but which looks like a promising piratey adventure. This is followed by a King’s Quest Collection, bundling up seven titles: Quest for the Crown; Romancing the Throne; To Heir is Human; The Perils of Rosella; Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder; Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow; and The Princeless Bride. You also get Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One for your USD 19.95.
But that’s not all. If Telltale manages to sell 5,000 bundles, buyers will also get Puzzle Agent; and Sam & Max Season 2: Beyond Time and Space unlocks at an as yet unspecified number of sales.
A good weekend for the Damyanov’s collection.
