- Postmortem: Dejobaan Games’ Aaaaa! — A Reckless Disregard for Gravity
This is the story about how AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! — A Reckless Disregard for Gravity (Aaaaa! for short) put Dejobaan Games on the map. We’re a small studio that proudly makes its home in Boston, Massachusetts, alongside game dev companies of all sizes, from industry heavyweights Turbine and Harmonix to tiny one-person affairs. Our company is tiny, with a core team of three people and a handful of part-timers.

You can play this fantasy action game on PC, Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Three heroes, a thief, a knight and a mage, set on a quest to reveal the mystery of an ancient treasure. If you like platformers, Trine is one of the best games of the genre.
Best features of the game for me are the graphics, the story and its presentation as a whole. The controls are a bit unpleasant, at least for PC. I’ve tried out a demo for the Xbox 360 and I liked the controls for the console better.

I learned that from an interview made by a gamespot reporter at the Tokio Game Show 2010. He speaks with two girls who are professional cosplayers. If you’re interested how one does become a professional in the cosplay scene, watch the video below.
I got into playing The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom shortly after completing the excellent VVVVVV (review) and I was expecting more platforming ecstasy. Winterbottom’s lengthy tutorial looked very promising and I had high hopes.
Those were dashed several real-gameplay levels later when I had to accept that this was not a platforming game, but rather a puzzle. Yet this discovery, though a bit disheartening, did not deter me from venturing further into Winterbottom’s misadventures. Before starting the game, I was very impressed with its marvelous retro-movie black-and-white style, and that kept me playing long after I thought I was done with it.
My full impressions follow after the break.
