Several recent conversations on various game-related issues made me think about the definition of hardcore gamers and serious games. I noticed that I’ve made some kind of classification of gamers’ play styles and games in my head and it was kind of exciting to dig in and see what I would find.
So, my definition of hardcore gamers is: People who play a lot and always seek to beat the highest level of difficulty in a game. They are very competitive and often take the leading role in multiplayer games. You can learn a lot from them, but sometimes they can be a little insensitive to noobs
When I classify a game as “serious” I mostly mean: A game with an interesting story and a strong lead character which challenges you to use all of your skills and prior experience, in order to complete it.
However, I am wondering if those definitions are correct or complete!
