Why do we think it could work online if it doesn’t in reality?

Massively Multiplayer Epic by *Kirbopher15 on deviantART

I am wondering why people think it is easier to build teams in a few minutes online when it cannot happen in real life.

My husband Dilyan has become a World of Warcraft player and is a Hunter nearing level 79 now. Every evening when I grab the Xbox 360 controller to start up yet another Mass Effect 2 session, he sits on the PC for yet another WoW game . What I most often hear him say while playing is : “Why is nobody doing what they should do?” or “Why is that guy just standing there, not defending himself?” or “Why is there no order in this raid? Everyone is doing just what they want, nobody is in charge!” ect.

Weekend Q&A — 10 Oct 2010

What are the best co-op games on Steam? Do cosplayers do The Witcher? Do a bunch of games have split-screen co-op mode? Those questions answered and more in this week’s Q&A after the break.

Weekend Q&A — 26 Sep 2010

Predictably, a lot of the searches that bring people here are queries about whether a game has split-screen co-op or not. These are yes/no questions and the answers can get a little repetitive to those who are not particularly interested to know them, so I’ve left them for the second part of the post.

Neverwinter Nights goes MMO, I’m still on board

Neverwinter by KittyKati727

Neverwinter Nights is one of my all-time favourite RPGs. I very rarely replay games, especially games that last dozens of hours, for fear my to-play list would run crazy and kill me while I sleep if I let it grow too much. Yet I have played through NWN twice, not to mention a third attempt (chronologically the first one) that was cut short by a hard-drive disaster midway through Chapter 2, and that one time when I watched Vanya play the game.

Held hostage by my ever expanding collection, I’ve still not come around to playing through either of the sequels expansions or Neverwinter Nights 2. Nor any of the undoubtedly delicious add-ons.

And now Atari is going to publish a new game in the series, called Neverwinter.

Am I happy?

You bet! (Full answer after the jump.)
