Weekend Q&A — 26 Sep 2010

Predictably, a lot of the searches that bring people here are queries about whether a game has split-screen co-op or not. These are yes/no questions and the answers can get a little repetitive to those who are not particularly interested to know them, so I’ve left them for the second part of the post.

Front Mission Evolved

Genre: Third-person shooter

Platforms:  PC, PS 3, Xbox 360

Story: Dylan Ramsey, a young engineer, gets involved in the war between the United Continental States (U.C.S.) and a battle faction called Sword of Damocles (SOD).  Ramsey is a pilot of a wanzer — a war machine, which as the young engineer discovers has a hidden power, called “edge”.

Halo: Reach

Genre: First-person shooter

Platform: Xbox 360

Release date in the USA: September 14, 2010

Story:  In the year 2552 in the Reach colony humans are battling the alien aliance, called the Covenant. Reach is the main hub for the military forces of the United Nations Space Command (UNSC). The events in Reach are occuring shortly before those in Halo: Combat Evolved. Players assume the role of Noble 6, a member of an elite supersoldier squad, rather than that of Master Chief. In Halo: Reach your goal is to help Master Chief escape the Reach colony.

Last Window: The Secret of Cape West

Genre: Adventure

Platform: Nintendo DS

Release date in Europe: September 17, 2010

Story: Kyle Hyde is on his next case and is visiting the Cape West apartment building in search of something called the Red Star. This game is sequel to the Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
