A little less conversation, a little more action

Elvis Presley by ~dancingonthemoon on deviantART

I feel compelled to quote that verse from an Elvis Presley song when it comes to Japanese games.

I am currently playing Last Window: The Secret of Cape West and am once again amazed by the slow pace of the action and the endless dialogues. The characters say something, which could fit in two sentences, in ten. The explanation of very simple actions or emotions is discussed and analyzed in lengthy conversations that are truthfully boring.

Game diary: Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is one good game for Nintendo DS. It is an adventure telling the story of former NYPD detective Kyle Hyde, who has become a traveling salesman after he left the force. The events are taking place in 1979.

Hyde arrives in Hotel Dusk, where he should receive a package from his boss with products for sale. Shortly after he checks in, however, Hyde discovers that his stay in the Dusk will be more interesting than he had expected.
