Retro lust

TurboGrafx 16 by moparx

I’ve got the collector’s itch again (I blame vol 2 of the Videogames Hardware Handbook bookazine) and am currently in the market for a PC Engine/TurboGrafx -16 machine. I expect to order one on eBay in the next few days. I’m buying the US version, which is selling for like GBP 20-30 brand new. Also, games are abundant and cheap and, though used, most come with package and instructions. And don’t get me started on the coolness of the huCard’s design.

I can’t wait.

Antiquated C64 base unit

Commodore 64 Base Unit by porkshanks

As if the mid-80s was not long ago enough, Robert Bernardo of the Bay Area C64 User group felt the need to commission someone to do a deliberately antediluvian version of a Commodore 64‘s base unit. Varied artist Molly Friedrich stepped up to create this kick-ass piece of retro-computer geekery.

I’m no expert in furniture, but this seems like something out of the 20s or 30s, don’t you think?
