Weekend Q&A — 26 Sep 2010

Predictably, a lot of the searches that bring people here are queries about whether a game has split-screen co-op or not. These are yes/no questions and the answers can get a little repetitive to those who are not particularly interested to know them, so I’ve left them for the second part of the post.

Coming soon: Vanquish

Vanquish is a third-person shooter I stumbled upon on one of our demo nights. The game reminds me very much of Gears of War when it comes to the controls and gameplay. The demo I tried out put right in the middle of a battle with a huge steel android. The battle was in three stages — first a swarm of smaller robots and then two rounds with the big guy. It was great fun playing and I’m definitely considering buying the game when it comes out in Europe.

The premiere of Vanquish in the U.S. is on October 19 this year and on October 22 in Europe. The game will be available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

In Vanquish you play as Sam, an agent who is sent by the government to stop the destruction of New York. The Big Apple is the next target on Russia’s list in its war against the USA for the power resources of the world.
